Mike was such a gentle soul!
I remember once when Mike and I were going on a surfing trip one morning in high school. Anyone who knows me knew i was terrible at surfing, but Mike didn't care. I don't recall where we were going but it was somewhere up the coast from Fort Lauderdale.
Anyway, so we placed the surfboards on my surfracks and got to talking. During our conversation, I completely forgot to strap the boards down to the racks. As we began our journey, our boards flew off the racks onto the road. Both boards sustained some minor dings that required repairs. In that moment, I thought for sure Mike would be pissed. And he may have been later, but it didn't seem to phase him. He simply responded that we would fix them later and that we were wasting time. I felt really bad about damaging his board but i guess he realized that accidents just happen. He was very forgiving about that incident.
